PROJECT | The Rise – new build COMPLETED | 2008
COMMENDATION | Western Australian Architecture Awards | Single Residential 2008
Internally,
spaces are arranged to suit the clients’ request of voluminous spaces and a
large
entertainment area. The main entrance opens into a large void area, which
features a
crystal chandelier, immediately creating a sense of grand proportions
Sam
Teoh Architects designed the open-plan kitchen, dining and living area to accentuate
the feeling
of space and a large mosaic column rising from the island bench supports a floating
ceiling which
delineates the kitchen
A potential first for Western Australia is a Magic Mirror TV built into the kitchen splashback
Wall
and roof windows within the voids not only act as a light sources with natural
cross ventilation
to allow hot air to escape but they also create an
interesting, voluminous space
Sam Teoh Architects designed the master bedroom suite into the mezzanine area to maximize the views
A television in the master bedroom retracts into a storage unit mounted in the glass balustrade
The
guest bedroom suite has a sense of contemporary luxuriousness and includes a
resort-style
ensuite with a large bathtub
The
homes earthy tones contrast with occasional splashes of vibrant colour, such as
a red splashback
for privacy in the powder room
An interesting feature on the terrace is the large Bonaparte mosaic
